July 9 through July 11, 2004, New Hope, Pennsylvania will be the site for Showcase the Arts of New Hope, a town-wide celebration of the arts and artists of New Hope, Bucks County and environs. The weekend event will feature performances, exhibitions and children’s activities, culminating in a dinner/celebration of the Culinary Arts where guests will enjoy a diverse sampling of fabulous food prepared by some ofthe area’s finest chefs.
The weekend offers a variety of opportunities for artists to share their talents. The event will kick off on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 with a special reception at Triumph Restaurant at Union Square on Bridge Street for the Fine Art of Dining, a juried art exhibition about food, wine and the importance of festivities that take place around a table.
Artists are also encouraged to work with their area gallery to arrange a demonstration or a gallery talk. Artists without area affiliation may contact the committee for potential sites for such activities. Not Too Shabby at 30 W. Bridge Street will host two artist demonstrations on July 10 from 1pm-3pm and sculptors exhibiting in the Outdoor Sculpture exibition will lead a Walk & Talk Tour of the show at 4pm. Both events are free and open to the public.
Also on Saturday the 10th there will be live music at various outdoor locations throughout town including the Celt-Iberia Shop on Ferry Street and at the Ferry Street Landing at the River. Area venues such as the Bucks County Playhouse, Odette's and John & Peter's will feature a variety performers Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
From noon- 3pm on Saturday artists will assist young people in creating their own masterpieces and local storyteller Jane King will entertain at the Ferry Street Landing.
The weekend celebration will close on July 11 with a party under tents at Union Square on Bridge Street in New Hope. The event will feature food prepared by some of the area’s finest chefs and restaurants including Hamilton’s Grill Room, Dish Catering, Triumph Restaurant & Brewery, Thomas Sweet, Bill Gill, John & Peter’s, Kathy Bates, Pam Hueber and others. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door and include food and spirits. Tickets are also available at Farley's Bookstore, S. Main Street in New Hope and Dresswell's, 10 Bridge Street in Lambertville. All attendees will also receive a “goody bag” of gift certificates and gifts from area businesses.
