The artistic director of the Concordia Chamber Players is New Hope's Michelle Djokic, a world-class cellist. According to Concordia's president, Laura Hahn, "Michelle has attracted eminent colleagues to be part of the ensemble because of their friendship with her and their desire to visit New Hope, which they view as a traditional haven for visual and performing artists and their aficionados."Last season's concert series was highlighted by violinist David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The upcoming concert's performers likewise are eminent musicians. Firmly established in her native Israel as an important young musician, violinist Carmit Zori was chosen at age 13 by the America-Israel Cultural
Foundation to perform on the international television special "Music from Jerusalem." Two years later, at the recommendation of Alexander Schneider and Isaac Stern, she came to the United States to study at the Curtis institute of Music. The recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a former Leventritt Artist, Ida Levin was invited by Rudolf Serkin to appear with him in a joint recital for President and Mrs. Reagan, broadcast by PBS as, "In Performance at the White House. " She made her Carnegie Hall debut as soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, and appeared as soloist with the New York String
Orchestra at both Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Robert Rinehart joined the New York Philharmonic's viola section in September 1992. He has an extensive background in chamber music; as a founding member of the Ridge String quartet, be toured extensively in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America beginning in 1979. The quartet was featured on all of New York's major chamber music series as well as the Spoleto, Schleswig-Holstein and Helsinki festivals. Ronald Thomas is artistic director and co-founder of the Boston Chamber Music Society. Since winning the Young Concert Artists International
Auditions at age 19, he has appeared with major symphony orchestras in the United States, including those of St. Louis, Baltimore, Seattle, and Philadelphia. Thomas has performed in recitals throughout the United States, Europe, and the Far East.
Michelle Djokic made her debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the age of thirteen. In 1985 gave her first performance at Carnegie Hall as soloist with the New Jersey Symphony. She has appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe to great critical acclaim. "Djokic is indisputable when playing melody," hailed a critic from the Denver Post. "Her sense of delivery and her mastery of technique have an instinctual rightness about them." "Michelle has invited musicians with outstanding credentials," noted Hahn. "Their biographies read like the who's who of exceptional musicians, playing with and at the best venues around the world." Concordia's sponsors include Merck, Comcast, Edith and Michal Bristol, Hunterdon Family Practice, Dresswell's, Finkle's, Thomas Travel Service, First National Bank of Newtown, Hahn Creative, The Orchard Hill Collection, ZZCad, Joe Crilley, Partners in Progress, Stanley Cleaners, Opera Festival of New Jersey, Tom and Alycia Scannapieco, Daniel Egan Tomai, Larry Keller, George Michael, Hrefna Jonsdottir Gallery, and Roy Ortman and Bill Serrani.
