The Roxey Ballet Company to Present "An Evening of Romantic Dance"
The Roxey Ballet Company of Lambertville, NJ will present "An Evening of Romantic Dance" in February. Much of the work to be performed is choreographed by Mark Roxey the company’s artistic director. The show will begin with "A Valentine Out of Season," an abstract, contemporary pas de deux that highlights the resilience of human relationships danced to the music of John Cage. Following Mr. Roxey’s opening choreography, Ezio Pavonne, teacher of ballroom and Latin dance at the Mill Ballet School, reveals his
romantic side through his creation of the dance "Roxanne" to music he composed. Patricia Brown, an instructor in the genres of Ballet, Pointe and at the Mill and former dancer of the Joffrey Ballet, will have her work presented to Take Four’s musical selection "Never Ever." The next piece on the program is "Arms of an Angel" that is choreographed by Shaleena Tomassini of the Wheels-in-Motion program and performed by Ms. Tomassini and Mark Roxey. The first half of the program will also feature sequels to Mark Roxey’s "Four Seasons of Romance" Parts II and III. Part II is entitled "Wives and Lovers" and is performed to the music of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Part III, which concludes this portion of the performance, is "I Hate You, Then I Love You." The second portion of the program begins with a classic pas de deux from the ballet "Sleeping Beauty." Next to be presented will be variations from "Le Corsair" performed by Demetrius King. Following those offerings will be Roxey’s "Oye Como Va" to the rock song written by Carlos Santana. To wrap up this evening of romance will be a classic pas de deux from "Romeo and Juliet" and a piece called "For the Love of It" created by Roxey to music by the Chemical Beats. The dances will be performed by the professional dancers of the Roxey Ballet Company and selected pre-professional dancers from RBC II. Among them are Sharon Rudda of New Hope, Sebastian Scolari-Rinaldi of Pipersville, Roger Oliveira of Lambertville, Mark Roxey of Bucks County, Leland Schwantes and Annie Connors of New Hope, Josie Johnson of Princeton, Demetrius King of Flemington, Audra Johnson of Hackettown, Alexandra Redelico of Flemington and Marcos Medina of Lambertville. Other treats include special musical selections by live musician and poet Richard Jarboe of Stockton.
The company will present three gala performances only in Lambertville on February 13th at 7 p.m. and February 14th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Canal Studios located at 243 North Union Street in Lambertville, NJ.
