Bad Night at The Blue Gardenia ….a 20’s Murder Mystery Dinner at the Inn at Lambertville Station. Produced by Sean McGinnis in conjunction with J&T Talent of Yardley, Pa
According to the American Cancer Society's annual estimate of new cancer cases and deaths, projections indicate that there will be 1,372,910 new cancer cases in the United States in 2005 and 570,280 cancer deaths, or about 1,500 per day.The report finds cancer amounts for approximately 23% of all deaths and is the leading cause of death of Americans under the age of 85, when deaths are aggregated by age. Among men, prostate, lung, and colorectal cancers account for more than half of all newly diagnosed cancers (56 percent). Prostate cancer alone accounts for one in three cases (33 percent). Breast, lung, and colorectal cancers will account for more than half of new cancers among women (55 percent). Breast cancer alone is expected to account for one in three new cancer cases (32 percent). Like many people today, my family has been deeply affected by cancer. On September 24th, 2003, my father Peter McGinnis, passed away after an 18-month battle with bladder cancer. The last year has been extremely difficult because my father (who we all referred to as "Kahuna") was the center of our family. He was the 'glue' who held everything together for us. He was a brilliant man whom people flocked to for advice, companionship, and fun. He was the consummate host; quick to offer you a gourmet meal, a fabulous bottle of red wine, followed by an espresso and a Sambuca. He was the type of father I aspire to be some day. In order to honor my father and his great spirit; my mother Katherine, who is a breast cancer survivor; as well as many friends and family members who have been impacted by this terrible disease, we are hosting this event to raise money for the American Cancer Society so they can continue their noble mission of finding a cure for cancer Please join use for what we believe is a "Kahuna"-worthy affair, which will celebrate family, friends, community, great food and good times.
Featuring: Local Professional Talent: Joey Perillo, Joanne Bradley, Linda Axelrod, David Mulholland, Bob Meenan, Lisa Tellirico, and George Sinkler on Piano.
Show Synopsis: “Bad Night at the Blue Gardenia” is a murder mystery which takes it guests back…..back into the time of bathtub gin, the Charleston, and “living it up” on the edge of a Depression. The year is 1929. The setting is the Blue Gardenia Night Club, owned and operated by Baby Blossom, a former child vaudeville star with quite an unsavory past. Spending time at the club is Mickey “Spats” Delanany, fresh out of jail and eager to be reunited with Baby…. or is he really there to launder some “funny money” with his partner, Sammy “The Weasel” Scarbucci? Does Verna the Showgirl really have a heart of gold? Various “questionable characters” are present at the Blue Gardenia, maybe, one of them is YOU! This murder mystery allows its audience to be involved throughout the evening, whether it’s doing a Charleston, auditioning as the new Emcee of the club, or deciphering some of the hidden clues to help out the detective. Or, maybe you’ve got something to hide and just want to lay low and enjoy Baby’s singing or some of the other entertainment? Well, “anything goes” at the Blue Gardenia, so come and join us for an evening of music, murder and mayhem! All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Dinner: A three-course meal will be served featuring Filet Mignon & Pan Roasted Salmon, Salad, Assorted Breads (including Lambertville Station's Famous Coconut Bread), Colombian Coffee, Brewed Decaffeinated Coffee and Imported Tea Service, and Dessert. Silent Auction: A Silent Auction will be held with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society. A rich variety of distinctive items, services and outings will be featured including jewelry, vacation weekends, portrait sessions and much more. Please check back for an updated list before the night of the event. Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to browse the items at their leisure, and engage in spirited bidding with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.
