You may have seen the Trenton Times article on Saturday about further problems with the renovations at Trenton Central High School. The Trenton Historical Society remains committed to making sure this Trenton landmark remains for future generations to use and enjoy. If you want to see what we're fighting for, join us this Saturday May 14th at 10 or 11 am for a tour of the school led by student and Historical Society tour guides.
Starting from the front lobby, they will take participants through the entire building, showing off the architectural highlights, as well as the current educational programs. The tour will provide a sense of Trenton Central High School's history, its architecture and future plans for renovation and expansion. Trenton Central High School was completed in 1931 and includes marble walls in the lobby and auditorium, beautiful plaster detailing and a grand, Georgian-revival exterior. Visitors will see the gorgeous auditorium, typical classrooms, the current library and the proposed library, as well as locations special to students and alumni. Student tour guides will provide a true sense of what the high school is like today. This is a tour of TCHS's past, present and future, and will be the last opportunity to see the building before renovations begin. We'll be meeting in the front lobby, central entrance off of Chambers Street, where tickets ($2 per person or $5 per family) will be available, but please let us know if you'll be attending by phoning 396-4478 or emailing preserve@trentonhistory.org.
Proceeds will benefit the HS Scholarship fund and the Trenton Historical Society.
