FIGHT THE FLOODING! 1st Anniversary of the Great Flood of 2006
WHO: Drowning on the Delaware, Inc. is a non-profit, grass roots organization formed as a direct result to the April '05, September '05 and June '06 Delaware River floods.
WHAT: A meeting at the New Hope-Solebury High School 7pm, to inform concerned individuals and the media on the following:

The current situation regarding the mismanagement of The New York City Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) reservoirs.
The misinformation being disseminated by the DEP and The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC).
The need for the Governors of NY, PA, NJ and DE and the legislators in City of New York to take the significant but necessary step of maintaining sufficient room in the reservoirs to offer some protection against flooding downstream.
Our Governors have the power to help us!
WHEN: Thursday, June 28th 2007 7pm
WHERE: New Hope-Solebury High School Auditorium, 180 West Bridge Street,
New Hope, PA 18938.
WHY: The NYCDEP makes a profit from the water they hoard in their reservoirs. So, they keep these reservoirs at or above 100% capacity, even in the face of on-coming hurricanes, and sell billions of gallons of this water.
They REFUSE to lower their reservoirs to 80% capacity to create safety voids (a buffer to capture heavy rains and/or snowmelt). These management practices have caused our communities to receive unprecedented flooding: 3 floods in 2 years! This mismanagement of the NYC Reservoirs MUST Stop!

CONTACT: Drowning on the Delaware, Inc. Public Relations Representative:
Rachael Spiropoulos 215.870.6875
It has been exactly one year since the communities along the Delaware River have been devastated and it's only a matter of time before it happens again...Unless WE Do Something To Stop It.
