Audubon Trip to Quakertown Swamp to Spot Owls
New Hope, PA On January 25 a field trip to spot the "Owls
of the Quakertown Swamp" will be co-sponsored by the Bucks
County Audubon Society, Heritage Conservancy and Quakertown Swamp
Partnership. This free two-hour program begins at 5:00 p.m. with
a short slide presentation to introduce the varieties of owls in
Pennsylvania and their adaptations. Participants will caravan and
walk through the Quakertown Swamp to search for the nocturnal birds.
Registration is required as space is limited. Call the Bucks County
Audubon Society at (215) 297-5880 to register or for more information.
Participants should bring flashlights and dress for the weather.
The Bucks County Audubon Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated
to conserving wildlife, promoting awareness of environmental problems,
educating the community about the interdependence of humans and
the natural world, and furthering the wise use of land, air and

First
Algonquin Feature Film Festival
Underway in Bucks County
Two Bucks County (PA) film buffs have organized the first regional
independent
film festival, which will showcase feature films made in "the
genius belt,"
or the region in between Philadelphia and New York City. The first
Algonquin
feature film festival will kick off in January, 2003 in the New
Hope-Lambertville area.
The Algonquin Indiefest will screen six independent feature
films on Saturday, January 25, 2002 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
in the main ballroom at the New Hope Best Western on Route 202.
Short films will be shown all day in an adjacent conference room
at the hotel, and Dudick and Downey will host a wine and cheese
reception until 10:00 p.m. The reception will also feature performances
by local singer-songwriters Karen Gross and Roia Rafieyan.
Sunday's program will feature a panel discussion with a documentarian,
followed by a film and tea. That event will be held at Artsbridge
gallery in the Canal Studios on Union Street in Lambertville, from
9 a.m. to noon. The film festival is open to the viewing public.
Admission is $30.00 per person and includes all day Saturday screenings
and the filmmaker reception. Sunday 's event is free with a ticket;
however, admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis due

Mill Ballet School enters its 9th season beginning September 16th.
The Mill Ballet School, official school of the Roxey Ballet Company,
located at 243 North Union Street in Lambertville, New Jersey begins
its 2002/03 season of classes on September 16, 2002. Entering its
9th season, the school proudly provides world-class dance training
to students of all ages and levels. The school can be found in the
Canal Studios building at the end of North Union Street (behind
the old Ben Franklin Building). The facility hosts over 6000 square
feet of "state of the art dance studio space. The registrar's
office is open Monday through Saturday between 1:30pm -6:30pm. Free
evaluations and placement advice for prospective students are offered
by appointment only. An interview and audition may be required.

PALISADES COMMUNITY CHORUS is recruiting NEW MEMBERS for its Fall
2002 season. Join the director,
Dr. Jack Schmidt, and the ensemble as they prepare and perform Schubert's
beautiful Mass in G, and traditional music for the holidays. Rehearsals
are held Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 at the Palisades Middle
School, on Rt. 412 Kintnersville. First rehearsal starts at
7:15 September 12. Fee for the semester is $25 per person or $40
per family. No Audition is required! For more information about

Miles
of Mules, a major regional
public art project that will ultimately stretch the length of the
Delaware & Lehigh Canal Corridor, has arrived in New Hope. Artist
Robert Dodge unveiled a fiberglass mule painted during the kick
off for the project. If you or your organization are interested
in sponsoring a mule, call the Michener Museum at 215.340.9800.
Miles of Mules is accepting proposals from artists wishing to participate
in this public art event. Artists whose designs are accepted will
be provided with a life sized mule form and will be paid a $1000

Robert Dodge's New Hope mule will be stationed at the Michener Museum

Capital RainbowFest 1-6

Capital RainbowFest will be cohosted by the Trenton Lesbian and
Gay Civic Association and Jersey Pride, Inc. This inaugural statewide
gay pride festival will include live entertainment, games, information
for the community from all over the state, Trenton's largest outdoor
display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, a food court, and a great selection
of arts and crafts, gifts, clothing, and pride memorabilia. Performers
to date include Lorrie Wesoly, October Baby, and The Andi Rossell
Band.

Master craftsman Jeffrey
Greene is celebrating the 30th
Anniversary of his award winning Woodworking Apprenticeship
Program. Last year his program was honored as a finalist
for a Niche award that recognizes the outstanding creative achievements
of American craft artists. Last year Greene won the Cohen Trust
Award at The Philadelphia Furniture Show for Best Apprenticeship
Program, in 1998 the studio won the top award from Fine Woodworking
Magazine for his outstanding apprenticeship training and in the
same year was included in the Studio Tour Schedule of the Smithsonian
Institute. Greene has also been honored with the Award for Design
Excellence at the Philadelphia Furniture Show in 2000 and was nominated
again in 2001. He also garnered the 1999 NICHE Design Award and
was one of five artists selected for the James Michener Art Museum's
Invitational Show of Fine Woodworking. The Jeffrey Greene Design
Studio is located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The program is limited
to five apprentices at any given time and positions are usually

Plan To Spend the Day
Strolling New Hope To Enjoy All the Activities
This year's celebration offers a broad variety of ways to participate
in the Bastille Day Celebration and free outdoor activities are
located at three main centers in town. Visitors are encouraged to
park their car and spend the day strolling between these areas to
enjoy all the outdoor fun. Along the way they'll discover many shops
with special sales, shows and special events. Full schedule of events
for the July 13 and 14 town wide event are available at the New
Hope Visitor's Center, Cockamamie's, Farley's Bookstore and C'est
la Vie Bakery.
A new addition to Bastille Day 2002 is the Open Air Market under
tents on the grounds of Union Square, located on West Bridge Street
between the New Hope Solebury High School and the New Hope Train
Station. The market open from 12noon to 5:oopm will feature fresh
baked breads and cheeses alongside art, antiques and anything else
you might find at the March in Paris. Area artists Diana Contine,
Dakota Moon Studios, Susan Roseman, Cathy Williams, Nora Lewis,
Virginia Rosa and shops like The Painted Cow and French Accents
will be exhibiting handmade jewelry, hats, prints, paintings, fine
soaps and French linens and pottery alongside gourmet foods and
fresh baked goods from French Habits, C'est la Vie French Bakery
and more. Later in the day at 1:30pm and 3:30pm at the Union Square
site there will be a concert of popular and patriotic French &
American music featuring the internationally recognized Les Petits
Chanteuses - "Little Singers of Monaco", Nelson Camp,
Susan Whitenack, Krista Parrish, Flutist and singer Cathy Block
and concert pianist, singer/songwriter Lori Rosolowsky. Tickets
$5 From 12noon - 5:00pm, barely two blocks from Union Square on
Bridge Street, there will be music provided by the Oliver Creak
Band in the parking lot of Cockamamie's Art Deco shop. Around the
corner on S. Main Street behind the Old Stone Church there will
be a day long Petanque Tournament. Petanque is a traditional French
game much like Bocci Ball that can be played by all ages - all level
of players are welcome. To pre-register stop into C'est la Vie French

The corner of South Main Street and Ferry Street will be the site
of several activities including New Hope's First Annual Bastille
Day Waiter's Race to be held at noon. From 12noon - 3:00pm there
will be art activities for young people that will include face painting,
painted paper bag hats, chalk painting, printmaking and more. Across
the street at the Parry Mansion their will be an interactive history
lesson with a reenactment group and music by several traditional
folks singers. So mark your calendar for July 14 and plan on spending
the day strolling from one spot to another celebrating our French
Connection. Along the way you're certain to run into a juggler or
two. Parking is available as you enter town via 202/179 at the Union
Square site on Bridge Street for $2 an hour, all day $8 and after
6pm $4. There are additional lots throughout town as well as metered

Known in this region as a classical pianist, Lori Rosolowsky
is emerging as a folk pop musician whose style and voice have been
compared to Carole King and Carly Simon. She will perform
in concert on June 26 to celebrate the release of "Pass It
On" her first CD of original songs. Rosolowsky sings
and plays piano on all 11 tracks, and is backed by a group of stellar
musicians and vocalists. The June concert, featuring Rosolowsky
and several members of her band, will be held at Holicong Park,
Rt. 202 in Lahaska, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, June 26, from 7 to
9 pm (rain location: Clubhouse at the Buckingham Springs Adult Community
- 1490 Rt. 413, 3 miles south of Rt. 202 on the right). Sponsored
by the Buckingham Township Park& Recreation Committee, the concert
is free and open to the public. CDs will be available for sale and
singer/songwriter Rosolowsky will be available to autograph copies.

The
Mill Ballet School announces its acclaimed Summer Dance 2002
programs. July 8th - August 17th The
Mill Ballet School, Lambertville is the official school of the Roxey
Ballet Co. and renowned as the Delaware Valleys regions premier
world class professional training facility for classical ballet
and alternative dance forms. The Mill Ballet is gearing up for its
9th annual summer dance programs. Once again a junior dance camp
will be offered to students ages 6-10 from July 8-July 26. Camp
runs from 9:00am 3:00pm, Monday - Friday.
In addition The Mill Ballet will offer a three week intensive dance
workshop for students ages 11 and up. The workshop will run from
July 29 August 17, 9:00am 3:00pm, Monday Friday.
The School will offer "Open Enrollment Classes" for children
