our railroad! The 23.6 mile line to New Hope was completed in 1891
and the first freight train arrived the next day. The New Hope passenger
station dates to the opening of the line in 1891, although it was
originally located a few hundred feet farther south. The New Hope
freight station was also built in 1891 after the passenger station
was completed. The #40 steam engine was built by Baldwin Locomotive
Works in Philadelphia in 1925. Deisel #2198, former Conrail #2198,
was built by EMD in 1963. Click images for enlargement.
