Sophie's Column

This is my column on what's new or trendy in my school. I'll have news, outlooks and links. Once a month i will be updating my column.

Feburary 2002

Wow! A lot has happened in the last few months hasn't it?
Does anybody have any thoughts about recent news events? Maybe the whole school bus incident that happened a little while ago?

I think that recently, or since 9-11, America is in a constant state of
panic and fear. Everybody is always scared to fly or go out of their
houses for that matter but by doing this we are only showing the
terrorist what they want to see. Americans are taking all of their money
out of the stock markets and banks and putting it "under their
mattresses". Well I mean come on! Think about that! We can't always just assume that somebody else will do it. I've only been around for 13 years and I already know this. If anybody forgot this, here's a little
reminder…. If we take our money out of the stock markets and banks then first of all you won't gain any money and second of all now America has no money to borrow from the banks and stocks. Which means that we just dig our selves in to a bigger hole of debt. Eventually we won't be able to get out of it. My advice….Go shopping! Try hard to get your lives back to normal. It's been a few months so we can start recuperating.

The past few months have been so busy! I have all these parties and big
events to go to and we are starting this gigantic project called the 8th
grade project, which helps the school to make the decision if we can
pass, or not. So now all of the teachers are trying to prepare us for it and it's a lot of work. Plus we have all of the P.A.S.S.A prompts and all of that. Hopefully in 9th grade the work will be lighter.

I wanna wish a VERY happy birthday to one of my best friends in the
whole wide world! Imanta! We all love you! And nice try but I'm not
telling you what we got you! PS~ We should have fun tonight!
