Sophie's Column

This is my column on what's new or trendy in my school. I'll have news, outlooks and links. Once a month i will be updating my column.

May 2002

I am totally over booked this summer! I mean not that I’m complaining. I’d rather be busy then be bored. But I’m going to visit my uncle on June 15th, To the beach in July, and to North Carolina in August! Plus on top of all of that I have a summer job. Ugh I can just tell I’m going to be away from my house more then I’m in my house. But at least I’ll have some money on all of these vacations!

Our 8th grade class went to Gettysburg on the last day of May. It was so boring! I mean it would be interesting if we hadn’t studied it all year long! Plus sitting on a bus for 3 hours then getting on a different one for 2 more hours and then going home again (3 more hours!). It was sooooo hot that day too. The whole class was complaining.

We’ve been doing this huge project right now called “8th grade Project” (original, huh?). My group picked Domestic Violence and Custody Battles. It’s really interesting. We had to go and interview a master and attorney. A master is someone who acts as a guardian during custody battles. Well June 6th is the final presentation and I’m getting really nervous because this is the final grade of the year which means it determines if we pass 8th grade or not! (NO PRESSURE!) But then the day after that we have our recognition day. When we have a dinner/dance and get to go to the Y in Easton.
