Young Voices: Sophie's Column 08/02

August 2002

I have AOL Instant Messenger. There’s one thing that has really been bothering me for the last few months. People who just leave without saying Goodbye. It’s so annoying. That’s like if you were in the middle of a conversation with somebody and the just walked away from you. Or if you were on the phone with them and they just spontaneously hung up on you. So this one guy I know did it to me one night so when he came back on I told him about it and he’s like “Oh, I’m sorry!”. I’m like don’t be sorry just don’t do it!
I just got my class list for this year. I went to the High School to look around since I’m not going to be here for the Freshman Orientation. I just realized how destroyed our school is. We have no floors, ceilings, water fountains, and half of the classrooms are torn apart. They are supposed to be building this summer but it never happened and instead they are starting construction on the first day of school. It’s going to be so cold when winter comes because we have to insulation! But somehow they got to our Football fields where we got new bleachers! How did that happen!?
My friend Annie and I just got the details about our trip to North Carolina. It’s going to be so much fun. The house we are staying in has a pool, a pool table, 2 hot tubs, and a theatre! It’s only a few blocks from the beach and we were just saying how we’re never going to go to the beach because we’ll be having too much fun at home. The one
down side is that we have to leave at 4:30 in the morning. That’s so horrible.
