Young Voices: Sophie's Column 11/02

November 2002

I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! It seems like just yesterday it was my birthday. For all of you don’t know that, it’s in April. So for Christmas I have swore to myself to only ask for money from my family. I’m saving all the money I possibly can for my car. I’m going to try to get a Honda Civic or Accord. They are sooo cute but kind of out of my budget. Which is currently .93 cents! Yessss!

I am really stressed out by school this year. I didn’t really think that high school would be much different then Jr. High or grade school. Jeeze, was I wrong! It’s nice because there’s a lot more freedom, but the bad part is that well, first of all each day is like going to a construction site and second of all there’s so much more work! It’s a blocked period so instead of eight 45-minute classes I have four 90-minute classes and a half hour lunch. The good part about that is there is less teachers to deal with but, then again, I can’t sit in a classroom for 45 minutes let alone twice that!!

I’m going on a retreat with my friend Liz this weekend and it should be really fun, but it’s a church retreat! I’m not used to hanging out with people from her church. We’re going to stay in a condo down in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. It’s going to bring back some funny memories from when we were down there over the summer. That was the most fun
we’ve ever had together! I’ll let you know how it goes!
