09/02/06 - A CTCO fiber cut dropped IP service at approx 1P and restored at approx 8P.
06/28/06 - Nailed with another major flood that produced 5.5' of water in the lower level of building. The circuit, site, power and network were turned off at 4am on 6/28 just before evacuating. All services restored at 9:30pm on 6/30.
05/25/06 - CTCO line cut on River Road by fallen tree. Power line also damaged causing fire which burned out the telco wires. New cable had to be installed between effected poles on River Road. Circuit down from approx 1:30pm 05/25/06 and restored at 3:45am on 05/26/06.
03/09/06 - Email addresses submitted with classified ads are now automatically truncated into partial images to make them harvester unfriendly and non-indexable by the search engines. The email field was removed altogether from the guestbook form (along with the email addresses). NoIndex/NoFollow statements have been placed in the code for both Classified and Guestbook sections to prevent these particular sections from being indexed by the search engines.
02/16/06 & 02/27/06 - A queue system was put in place for both the Classifieds and Guestbook sections, with the queue being scanned once a day for spam/scam removal and then published.
09/26/05 - A Verizon OC12 circuit went down between 2 Verizon CO's that our circuit traverses, resulting in our circuit being down from approx 10:30a to 4:00p.
06/23/05 - A Verizon OC48 fiber line was cut at approx 5:45pm, dropping service to many circuits in northern PA, including ours. The cut was repaired at 5:15am on 6/24 and service was restored.
April 2005 - We got over 6 feet of water in the lower level of the building and evacuated for this major Delaware River flood. Circuit and site were down for approx 48 hours.
09/20/04 - We were flooded by the remnants of Hurrican Ivan. Our building is 8 feet from the river and we got approx 5 feet of water in the building. The servers were down from 11:30p 09/18/04 to 10:30a 09/20/04. We had to shut down all power to the building and tow out the network generator before the building was engulfed by the river. All the network equipment was on the second floor and not damaged. The generator has been reinstalled. Good luck to eveyone else who ended up in the river during this flood.
11/03 - Some major revisions to the site's
code, file structure and backend functions are being performed this
month. We put it off as long as possible, but the existing structure
can't handle the site's present size any longer. The interactive
sections are also being replaced with more functional and maintainable
apps. End result should be less ongoing time being spent on maintenance
and more on non-commercial content additions.
10/29/03 - The CTCO circuit was replaced
with a Sprint circuit (which provides better peering and monitoring
of their pipes).
08/27/03 -
webmaster@newhopepa.com email
address deleted and replaced with
webmanager@newhopepa.com. We were
getting inundated with SoBig-F replication traffic from infected
folks that had the webmaster address in their address books. When
it got up to several hundred an hour, we temporarily deleted that
address.
11/29/02 - Video streams only were offline
from 7p-10p on 11/28 and from 9:15a on 11/29 until 2:15p on 11/30.
Cause was circuit failures with Commonwealth Telephone. All other
portion of the site were up during this period (as they port on a separate path than the video).
11/10/02 - Several problems with the forms
posting in classified section were fixed. The site's search engine
was modified for easier functioning.
10/06/02 - E-T1 down - open pair
on CTCO line near canal & river rd. 10p 10/5 to 3:30p 10/6
09/16/02 - One of the circuits (CTE)
went down at 5:10pm and came back up at 1:45am on 09/17/02. Line
failures at CTCO.
09/01/02 - Circuits down from 09/01/02
6pm to 09/02/02 9am. CTCO line failures due to downed transmission
pole/sliced cable.
05/31/02 - Access to video streams
only was down from 9:30p on 5/31 to 8:00p 6/1. One of CTCO's circuit
cards at the demark failed, knocking out the route used by the video streams.
04/06/02 - Service interruption
11:10pm - 8:50am - CTE fiber lines running to ATT & Level3 backbones
were cut as result of a downed transmission pole.
03/15/02 - Service interruption
between 11:05p to 11:20p (ctco:s/e)
01/17/02 - Circuit/router maintenance
scheduled between the hours of 12am-5am. Some periods of service
interruption expected. (ctco/epx)
08/31/01 - One of our circuits
went down at 4:33pm. and was restored at 11:58am. The outage was
caused by major line failures at Commonwealth Telephone Company.
03/22/01 - Bandwidth circuit maintenance
being performed from 12:00am to 5:00am. Downtime should be less
than an hour.
03/16/01 - Bandwidth upgrades performed
today.
11/23/00 - 10:45am - Service down
for brief period (under an hour) for electrical upgrades to the network.
